This year the "mural festival" aka the St-Laurent street sale that takes place the weekend after Grand Prix is going on for 11 days, June 4-14.
I'm not so happy about it for a couple reasons. Not because I care about the street being closed Mon-Wed between the weekends it would already be closed - I don't drive and if people can't handle the noise, they shouldn't live just off the Main.
No, it's because this means the entire stretch is closed from Sherbrooke to Mont-Royal for the entire 11 days. The first weekend was Sherbrooke-Pins - ie. the GP douches were confined to a small playpen. Only the 2nd non-GP wkend was Sherbrooke to Mt-Royal.
But it mostly sucks because the trade-off for weekdays and more territory is that there is no late August weekend street sale. That weekend had the better deals (and helped merchants do summer clearance) plus it just had the cooler vibe. Less tourists, less crowded, more locals, something to look forward to at the end of summer. That's a really bad trade-off imo.
