Muffaletta? Where to find?

Question

Anyone have ideas for a restaurant(s) that serve great muffaletta? Help! Big Time in U District used to have one but it's gone from their menu and they won't improvise off the menu. I might say that theirs was passable. I've had the real thing in New Orleans at the original place and would love to eat a similar one here...

buy olive salad from Central Market in NO and make your own. i think they ship.

Belle Epicurean (downtown) has muffaletta, olive salad and all. A cuite little cafe where you can grab a seat or grab to-go. Cannot vouch for authenticity though, since I've never had the "real thing."

the most difficult part of making one's own muffaletta is obtaining the right bread - the ciabatta available in seattle is not bad but too small; the original is, essentially, a 12" round loaf - all the other ingredients (ham, mortadella, salami, provolone and the essential olive salad; even the too-small rolls) are available at delaurenti's. as for ready-made, ain't gonna happen here since the 'right' way is to be prepped in advance and sit on the counter for an hour or so macerating.

If you're up to a mobile food experience, try Where Ya' At Matt. http://whereyaatmatt.com/ His truck is in different parts of the city, depending on the day.

Matt's a good guy, and the food is great. Personally, I go for his Shrimp & Grits or a Po' Boy, but his Muffaletta is darn tasty too.

I won't make any claims for authenticity, but they do a decent muffaletta at Virginia Inn downtown (1st / Virginia), or at least they used to, it's probably been about a year. They also have a good beer selection.

The Latona Pub on NE 65th St has had a muffaletta on the menu recently. I enjoyed it as a sandwich; I can't vouch for its authenticity. But it's excellent with a beer!
