After seeing Mt Fuji nestled in the Ramapo mountains from afar for so many years, my dude and I decided it would be a perfect perch for a beautiful autumn sunset...The views were beautiful, but the food was totally lame.
We arrived early and were shuttled to the lounge where giant chairs on rollers reminiscent of 1979 were crammed in to one side of the lounge (the largest space on the far side was reserved for a wedding). I ordered the Bonsai coctail (syrupy and glow in the dark green-not recommended) and commented on the snake vodka they had behind bar-that's right, a big jar of vodka with a couple of black snakes hanging out...eek.
We were buzzed then brought back to the main dining room....Soup was a ginger broth and, while not exceptional, fresh tasting -even with the Durkee onions placed on top. Salad had the the ginger dressing, though too much dressing globbed into one place does not make a dressed salad. Interestingly enough, once the Habachi got going, the meal went further downhill Appetizer of shrimp and butter (???) was overcooked and under-seasoned. Fried rice and noodles were again over- salted and under-seasoned (noodles AND fried rice??? Welcome to America!!! ) even with the addition of butter. I had bonsai chicken and steak, my dude had prime sirloin....Again, more butter and both were amazingly salty AND under-seasoned...In all, everything tasted like poorly made chinese food.
My tip: Go for the views, get a cocktail, though skip the meal.
$78 beer and hot sake (rubbing alcohol has tasted better)
