We're on our way from Brooklyn to go go camping at Seawall in Acadia National Park. We're planning to arrive the day after Labor Day and stay for 10-12 days. We'll also be doing some day traveling East (at least as far as Schoodic) and maybe west as well. We'd really like some great lobster, as well as a place with fried clams (with bellies) and oysters, clam chowder, etc. **Key point is places that stay open weeks after Labor Day.** Also perhaps a chef owned slightly upscale small place in Bar Harbor would be of interest.
Also any good places to buy food for cooking at the campsite? Especially of interest would be local vegetable/fruit stands; bakeries, for mostly great bread, but also for sweets and any place where we can get lump (natural wood)charcoal.
Finally, we are not eat out breakfast people, but would appreciate any suggestions of where to go if it is raining too much to have coffee, toast and juice at our campsite.
Sorry for this long list of requests but the generous people on Chowhound rarely fail to deliver even if my demands are high.
