MSP - Thuro Bread

MSPD | Apr 28, 2008 12:28 PM

At the Lonsdale rest stop of the MN Ironman Bike Ride yesterday, there was a table set up by the folks from Bonus Vivus who make a product called Thuro Bread. I'll provide the web site below for a good description of the product. Basically, it's an energy bar kind of thing but I found it to have a more "dry" consistency like a cookie rather than an energy bar. All in all it was a great snack, not at all heavy in the stomach like a lot of dense breads or energy bars. It was satisfying -- like eating a good cookie but more healthy.

They are beginning to distribute via the Wedge co-op system -- I had a nice chat with the guy but as I was a bit tired, don't remember if he said they were already available via retail at the co-ops or will be soon. Either way, if you are in the market for energy-rich chow like this local to MSP, keep them in mind. I eat a lot of this kind of stuff and these are certainly chow-worthy.

One other note...if you're so inclined, they're vegan except for the ones with chocolate chips according to the guy.
