I was quite excited to see a new burger joint near my house, so I made the trip last night. I can ignore the dive bar feel, but wow - what a disappointment!
To start off with, the service was slow at best. It took nearly 90 minutes for us dine there on a Thursday night, with the place about 3/4 full.
The food was just okay. My chocolate malt was made with Hershey's syrup, which barely produced a chocolate flavor. I would say it swayed more towards vanilla. I also got a pretty distinct impression, although I can't prove it, that everything came in from a box or mix, and was just reheated. The coleslaw tasted like your generic KFC-style, the burgers were perfectly round, and the cheese curds had a distinct "frozen and thrown into a deep fryer" taste.
It's not hard to make a good burger and I can say that unless there are drastic improvements, I won't be going back. I should have run when the waitress didn't ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked. You're better off going to Culver's.
