MS Living Cake

In the June issue of MS Living there's a gorgeous hummingbird cake pictured on page 35. My question is, how would one cut and serve something like this?

For those of you who don't subscribe, they thinly sliced a pineapple, leaving the core in, and dried the slices. They end up looking like frilly yellow flowers, and are piled upon the white frosted cake.
