Went to the Grand Opening today of the new Midtown Global Market in the old Sears building at Lake and Chicago.
Ya gotta love any event where they are walking around giving free samples of Manny's Tortas! In addition to lots of free samples there were a lot of $1 small order sorts of things available for the today only.
Among the chow to be had here: Manny's, Holy Land, A la Salsa (mexican, but were also selling tasty pupusas 2/$1), Jakeeno's, Pham's Deli, la Loma (tamales!), Everest Cafe (momos!), West Indies Soul (patties!), Taqueria los Ocampo (they have the La Hacienda style gyros spit of Al Pastor going on), La Sirena Gorda (Mex seafood), Andy's Garage, and, as they say on TV, "much much more."
Also United Noodles with lots of asian packaged snack foods, a mex panaderia, and places selling meat, poultry, fish, produce.
They are going to hold a farmer's market onm Thursdays.
