I've been living with my gf in the EV for the past ten years, and we recently closed on a co-op in JH. Needless to say I'm VERY excited to be surrounded by such a high concentration of international flavors at a much lower price point than my current nabe (the EV has some bargains, it's true, but nothing like JH). Before meeting with my contractor today I had the chicken adobo lunch special at Papa's Kitchen and I'll tell ya: I'd be hard pressed to spend a better $8.00.
Between @nigelsie and @wendalicious on IG, Joe DiStefano and Jared Cohee's blogs, and sgordon here on chowhound, I've built a pretty impressive google map (thanks to sgordon for the inspiration and encouragement on this!) of places to try (link below: please don't hesitate to offer more recs!). What I really need, tho, are more day-to-day basics: mainly where to shop for food (gf and I usually do WF, Key Food and Union Market here in the EV). It seems that we've got it covered between Apna Bazaar, Patel Bros., and Natural Market. Anyplace else we should frequent? Is Stand Alone Cheese good? We haven't really checked out Northern Blvd. at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
