We stopped in Avignon on the way down from Lyon to Barcelona. What a pretty city, and totally suitable for foodies!! We had lunch at l'Épicerie, 10 Place Saint-Pierre, and had the most delicious platter of vegetable dips and delights ever (ask for 'L'assiette des épicières et dessert au choix'). Another hit was La Vache à Carreaux, an invitation to discover the best cheese French recipes (don't let their website fool you because it doesn't make the place justice, the restaurant is very cozy and intimate, and the food/cheeses excellent). Didn't have the chance to try Chez Lulu, if anyone has been there it'd be nice to know your opinion!
Sitting by the Rhône river and, Avignon is not short of excellent and affordable wines that completed our gastronomic experience. We were also stunned to discover a couple of indie movie theaters screening both classic and B movies like 'Utopia-La Manutention', behind the Palais des Papes, where we had a really pleasant time after dinner. Would love to go back there soon!
