Sylvestor's Burgers is opening it's 3rd county location in Oceano, near the Melodrama on Cienega (Highway 1) downtown Oceano. They serve regular and Hearst Ranch beef , Elk, and Buffalo burgers, hot dogs, salads, fries, shakes, etc, A local business, with fair pricing. Their burgers are juicy and tasty; sometimes it's hard to get yours cooked to order if you like med rare. Just sayin, they can get slammed and burgers get overcooked. But they aim to please; if you are dissatisfied, they give you a coupon for a free burger of your choice. 1875 Front St Oceano. 805-270-4434. open 7 days. Free burger on our birthday.

Slo Breeze Cafe opened on South Higuera in the strip-mall spot vacated by Neon Carrot. Part-owner/Chef Sam Zaugg has cooked at Los Olivos Cafe and Wine Cottage Bistro in Old Orcutt; both places known for quality dining experiences. dining. They corn their own beef, which earns it a spot on my radar. Open M-F for lunch.

Chef Rick is open in the space of The Tamale Shop in Santa Maria; on Blosser, 1/2 block north of Betteravia. Best approached from the north on Blosser due to a median strip. Lunch offerings change daily, you can get a daily menu email or check their website for day's menu. Rick is catering out of the kitchen there and is open M-F for lunch only. His old cafe's menu favorites are featured, as well as new ideas.
