In February 2015, I attended a reception at Mother Restaurant. It's a casual farm-to-fork spot that happens to not serve meat. Our group had the space to ourselves, and it was fun to be able to interact with the kitchen crew as they cranked out the appetizers.
A colorful and very tasty beet and quinoa salad was portioned out in Chinese take-out type cartons for easy to grab individual servings. Light and tender focaccia squares topped with braised greens and cheese were passed on trays among the guests. And the chicken fried mushrooms could make you forget meat. No deliciousness was sacrificed to attain the moral high ground here.
