We visited Morrell's Wine Bar and Cafe in Rockefeller Center on Saturday evening. It was not crowded at all but, the winebar area was somewhat full. The wines were wonderful as well as the foods! However, will the wine bar staff please stop treating AND speaking to every patron as if they were an out-of-towner! And worse, the bar staff also has a tendency to suck up to only the familiar/popular faces that show up or celebrity types! The winebar staff basically ignored the rest of the patrons who were paying top dollar to sample a few very fine wines. It is real shame! I could not wait to leave! (As a matter of fact, they were so slow and inattentive I actually had to wait, and wait, and wait even for my tab).
I could see paying a great deal of attention to the NBC News anchor (purposely unnamed)at the end of the winebar. She was was casually entertaining a few guests and obviously needed to get on her way to get some shut-eye before her morning show. But for a winebar tender to flatout ignor the entire north end of the bar for 25 long minutes because he needed to suck up to a regular and his date (with stupid chatter about his flight back from Singapore). I am still waiting for that glass of water and gladly had to forgo another course of wine (due to the wait).
I never had this experience at the other Morrell's Wine Bar downtown. At that location service is great. Has anyone else had a similar experience at Morrell's Wine Bar and Cafe in Rockefeller?
