Hello, chowhounds! A couple of good friends of mine just opened a new Moroccan restaurant on 9th Ave. at 40th St. For all the years I've known them, they've been caterers and thrown parties in their own apartment constantly. I've often called Hamid a "repressed restauranteer." He is repressed no more! Here's a description of the place:
Tagine Dining Gallery offers Moroccan cuisine in a relaxed, colorful atmosphere. The name Tagine refers to a type of dish slowcooked in an individual stoneware pot resulting in exceptionally tender Halal meats and delicate, intermingled flavors of vegetables and spices. I recommend the Lamb Tagine! Tagine also serves Cous Cous dishes, fresh middle eastern salads and homemade breads and desserts. Chef Hamid offers many wonderful vegetarian dishes and nightly fish specials. There is live music nearly every night (no cover) and frequent events like belly dancing, poetry readings, etc. Enjoy!
