Morningstar Farms repackaged sausages

They’ve changed the recipe along with the packaging. On Facebook they say this change happened a year ago. https://www.facebook.com/morningstarf... You have to search and scroll now to find the many posts decrying the change, but they do exist. The spokesperson says it is due to making them vegan – a year ago.

Now, they're in crap plastic bags and they are forcing the retailers to prop the damn things up in mini cardboard magazine displays so we can see the product. Imagine the delight of staff having to refill displays every time 5 or 6 of something is sold. It's crazy stupid.

My Target Superstore has had the 12 count patties on the shelf only half the time I’ve wanted them, prompting me a month ago to corner an employee to go pry them out of cold storage. Those sausages were in a box.

Here are the changes I’ve noticed: It takes 1/3 again as long to cook the same patties I bought 2 months ago. I do them in the microwave - 1 1/2 minutes before, 2 minutes+ now. And, they are not nearly as “savory.” There really is a taste as well as texture difference.

My guess? They’ve lowered the salt and increased the water content to make sure the patties don’t stick together now that they’re all loosey goosey in the non-recyclable plastic bags.

And, I think they’ve done away with some chemicals and fat that my tastebuds used to love.

I’m sad and glad I will no longer rely on these little patties to give me a protein boost. Thing is, it makes it a little harder to do low carb vegetarian. For me. I realize I have to buck up and try other high protein sources for a quick fix. Shakes blow when you want “food,” and too many eggs piss off my gallbladder.

But that’s me.

Anyone else notice a change?
