Now closed on Mondays and Sundays, Id not had a chance to pick up lunch here for several months on my occasional drives down Hwy. 12 in the Valley of the Moon. Recently I was in the neighborhood again and opted for the $7 lunch special, which is a piroshki, a cup of soup and a pastry, and a savings of about a buck over the regular price.
I think Jackie is right (link below), the plain beef is better, but the beef and mushroom piroshki was still tasty and more than enough for lunch by itself. The soup of the day was asparagus. This was no shy and retiring delicately constructed cream soup. Instead it was a thick puree of asparagus and mushrooms with lots of butter for a very hearty and rich taste. The plum shortbread was wonderful too.
Everything Ive tried here in four or so visits has been high quality and good value. Highly recommended.
