Montreal Report: August 24-27, 2013

First off, I love Montreal and already miss it terribly...

My husband and I spent 4 great days recently and here's what we ate:

Patati Patata- solid poutine. Great IPA on tap. Good cheeseburger slider. We were surprised at how great the fish burger was! We will be back, loved the atmosphere and staff.

Bottega Pizzaria- we did not have the pizza, although it looked great. We tried a bunch of small plates- salumi, caprese, eggplant involtini... Food was good, our server was fantastic.

Au Pied de Cochon- did not have a reservation, so we thought we would try to get in on a Sunday as soon as they opened. We got lucky, after patiently waiting for a bit at the not-so-pleased hostess stand. Got seated at the food bar- love it. Stuffed ourselves- pied de cochon was a standout. Great server!

Mamie Clafoutis- I will dream of that chorizo ficelle, husband loved his chocolate croissant.

William J. Walter at Jean Talon Marche- We always stop in for a sausage with saurkraut, dijon and hot peppers- amazing.

Hambar- best charcuterie plate. Packed with housemade chix liver mousse, pickled vegetables, cured salamis and imported Serrano and Prosciutto. Cheese plate was perfect- featuring fromage quebecois.

Beauty's- had to get a Beauty's special before leaving.

Montreal has the BEST bagels (be quiet, NYC).
