A friend and I dined at Montmartre last night for a very tasty experience.
Started with a very strong whiskey sour which was long on whiskey and short on sour mix. We split an order of mussels, about 20 or so mussels in a saffron garlic broth. Next I had hanger steak with carmelized shallots, sauted fingerling potatos, and a red wine reduction, it's just an amazing dish, so simply yet bursting with flavor. My companion had seared scallops served over cannalli beans with aromatics - herbs, finely diced shallots, olives, balsamic vinegar - also an excellent dish. We finished off by splitting a wedge of chocolate tort, not overly rich, but a nice way to end the meal.
If you haven't checked out Montmartre I highly recommend it. Located on Capitol Hill on 7th Street SE off Pennslyvania Ave. (a block down from Eastern Market)...I recommend reservations because it's a small bistro that can fill up quickly.
