I had heard that from time to time, Monterey Fish makes salads, but hadn't the opportunity to show up when some were made. Today, I took a detour to try again. Alas, there were 2 crab salads in the case, pre-boxed in cardboard and bagged in plastic. The box said "crab" on it (as if it had the ubiquitous "krab", I'd have run!) $7.95. Box a good weight. I figured I better stop at La Farine for a roll, and then arrived back at the office.
A Generous portion of fresh crabmeat on a small bed of lettuce, cucumber slices, and cherry tomatoes, with a small cup of louie-esque dressing (more than enough dressing for me - I left over half of it), along with 2 slices of baguette (on the side, in the box).
The crab was delicious, the dressing was just right, I could have used a few more greens/tomatoes (easily added), and the bread was soggy as all can be, making the La Farine roll an unknowingly-wise stop. This was clearly a crab salad, not a salad with some crab thrown on as an afterthought. All it needed was a slice of lemon (absent) and the bread not in with the salad.
