The Mongolian Ambassador mentioned Buuz Thai Eatery in that Weekend section article about where Ambassadors go to eat their own cuisine. Turns out it is Mongolian owned and operated, and there is a limited Mongolian printed menu at the counter. Buuz are steamed Mongolian dumplings.
As an aside, I worked for fifteen years at an Embassy, and the Ambassador would have been the last person I'd ask. They are usually clueless about these things.
I was there on Friday, the day the article came out, and unfortunately they didn't have any buuz that day. They were going to prepare some for Saturday. So maybe call before you go.
Instead I had the flat fried dumpling and two salads: carrot salad and potato salad. To go, I got a beef bone noodle soup. I didn't really want the fried dumplings, but the waitress insisted they were good.
They weren't. Or should I say they may have been perfectly prepared, but they are and will always be flavorless. A very thin beef patty surrounded by a flat dough. Oily, unseasoned meat. The carrot salad was a tangle of thin, long carrot shreds in a sweet sauce, and the potato salad had tiny diced ham and carrot in it. And lots of mayo.
The beef bone soup was more of the same. Completely unseasoned, and the noodles did not hold up well. Luckily, I got to season it myself at home and salvaged the order.
There was a place in South Arlington, Mongol Nomads, that was a bit more interesting and had a more extensive menu, but it didn't last long.
I will probably go back to try the buuz at some point.
