We just returned from 'bd's Mongolian BBQ" in Irvine and thought I post this while still 'pickin my teeth!'
My wife and I have been doing Mongolian BBQ in northern Orange County for years and when some one mentioned "bd's" on this board several months ago, we put it on our list.
"bd's" is a chain out of the mid-west. Their Irvine location is at Irvine and Jamboree, the heart of so-cal yuppieville. To this extent, it is a clean, well run operation. As far as the food, it has the largest selection of meats, fish and veges for your bowel as we have ever seen. Every thing was fresh and well cooled.
I was impressed when I asked them to scrape the griddle before cooking my foor as I am alergic to nuts and they had them as a condiment. Their response was to cook my food in a seperate pan! A considerate touch. We had the standard mix; pork, beef, sprouts, etc. Then for seconds, I went back for a small scallop/shrimp/pineapple combo. They do not make the small pocket bread but do serve flour tortilas.
Our bill was $34.00 including a coke and one wine.
The food and service was good
Would we go back? No
Why not? We miss the ambiance of the small 'mom-pop'locations. The varieties may not be as large and the waiter is not 'Bruce to serve you ...' and there is always a good later of grease around the gridle.
