Monaco mini-report: La Montgolfiere Henri Geraci

degustazione | Jul 15, 201507:59 AM

La Montgolfiere Henri Geraci is in Monaco Ville (the old town on top of the rock/cliff, not near the famous casino, but near the royal palace). Summer seating is in a traffic free alley outside the restaurant. It's a husband and wife team and both are very friendly. The food is creative and good, with asian influences. Our starters were (1) maki with foie gras and smoked halibut; and (2) asparagus veloute with a poached egg. Both excellent. Main dish was lamb chops done in a curry--good but a bit overcooked for my taste, although perhaps that was due to the nature of the preparation. Desserts were cherry clafoutis and a plate of strawberries with cream. The desserts were good but not quite as good as the rest of the meal.
