Mon Kee in Chinatown

My wife and I visited Mon Kee last night for the first time in many years. We had a great evening.

First, there was a sign in the front window advertising their 25 anniversary with crab and lobster for $8.88/per pound. Now, crab is about at the top of my "faves" list and the prospect of inexpensive (relatively) crab in black bean sauce is a great start!

I was surprised how empty the place was...not more then 3-4 tables occupied on a Friday evening.

So a couple of Tsingtao's latter, the most wonderful crab and black bean with pepper and onion shows up. What a treat! The wife had kung pao shrimp and it was delicious. Ummm, kung pao shrimp---Homer Simpson drool sound---! The waiter was attentive without being a PITA and we had a great meal.

If you haven't been to Mon Kee lately, I encourage you to check it out. Good, fresh seafood and (for the moment at least) a great price for crab and lobster dishes.

Morris
