HELP: My Mom's Awful Taste in Wine

mexicaliblues | Nov 20, 201504:45 AM     8

My mother loves bargain basement, rot-gut pinot grigio. This despite my parents being financially very healthy / sound. She has always loved bad, cheap wine and I've had a terrible time opening her up to anything better or new.

Yesterday however, we were talking on the phone and she finally relented / admitted she had bad wine fatigue. I see an opening and want to strike while the iron is hot. I don't want to go overboard, but I'm looking for recommendations on dry white wines that pinot grigio fans would enjoy. I typically drink reds and like whites with some age on them (semillon, burgundies, etc.) so I am at a loss. I've had some success with her and vinho verde in the past.

Please let me know your thoughts. If I play this right, I could finally get to enjoy fine(r) wine with my mom the way I do with other family and friends. Cheers!
