Last Friday I walked past the Ssam bar the first time post-renovation and took a look at the posted lunch menu to see if any changes had been made. To my horror (perhaps too strong a word but I definitely didn't like what I saw) they have dropped their great Lunch Box deals in favor of a $28 prix fixe option of a starter (bun, pickles, or something else [if I remember correctly]), entree (fish, rice cakes, or steak ssam) and dessert (blondie pie or shortcake). While the meal is a deal at that price (especially if the entrees are full portions), I'd rather be able to split a pork bun lunch and a pork bowl lunch with a friend for that same price. Between this and the thinning of the noodle bar menu I wonder if there's still a place for me in the Momofuku universe. Oh, and also disappeared from the lunch menu? That great grilled pork belly ssam with the clams and mustard.
Anyway, anyone try the prix fixe lunch yet? Or have a better take on this situation? I've searched the internet for other grumblings but have found nothing.
