Molecular Gastronomy restaurant in Berkeley, SF, or Oakland, preferably around $70-100 per person

Hey, I'm looking for a molecular gastronomy place to take my girlfriend for her birthday that is in the Bay Area. I have looked at a couple of places, Commonwealth, AQ, but they all seem to have controversy around them. Such as Commonwealth being maybe on the safe side of molecular Gastronomy, and AQ doesn't have very good Yelp reviews, nor a Michelin star (but also, some say Commonwealth and AQ both deserve one).

The reason I'm looking for a molecular gastronomy place is because my girlfriend mentioned a couple months ago that she has always wanted to go to one, and I made plans ahead to make reservations at a place, as I think she would love it. I also love molecular gastronomy, so it'd be a great night for me as well.

I would love to go somewhere like Coi, which I have been to, but I don't have the resources at the moment to swing it, nor a place with a similar price range, thus the want for something a little cheaper. No need for something with a good wine list or cocktails, neither my girlfriend or I drink.

Also, if possible, a Pre-fixe/tasting menu is preffered.

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, both my girlfriend and I will eat any sort of food, so no problems there.
