I recently(within two weeks) bought a box of individually packaged chocolates. They're from a chocolatier, and they were dark chocolate. They were billed as truffles, but seeing as I got a box of eight for $20, I don't think they were the finest chocolate I have ever had.
I took a few to work today, to share with friends. My friend picks at her food, kind of plays with it, and discovered mold in the chocolate! Its not a bloom, its white and fuzzy, and was hidden in the middle of the candy. (I live in Southern California, and due to our hot spell, they've been in the fridge for the last week.)
I've never seen mold growing on(in?) chocolate like this. The only problems I've had are blooming, or stale and flavorless.
About the chocalates--they were individually wrapped in foil packaging with both ends crimped--kind of like a bag of chips.
