Today (it may be going on still - it was quite crowded when I left at 3:30) I stumbled across a street festival on Flatbush stretching from the Target to Grand Army (my usual landmarks.) There were ample booths selling delectable treats, mainly Jamaican/Caribbean and Southern. Some of the booths are from restaurants or catering companies, but others look like home cooking. I bought a toothsome stew chicken (had that for a late lunch) and in my fridge I have a goat curry and some jerk chicken awaiting the return of my hunger. I also got some chicken tikka from Joy for my lunch tomorrow (at 3 bucks, why not) and a piece of fabulous sweet potato pie. "Piece" may be understating it - it was a quarter of the pie.
Plus great music and other fun booths, so give it a go if you're in the area!
