I have been going to Mix bakery for steamed pork buns and egg custards for 10+ years.
I have seen Banh Mi all over china town, but Somehow the combination of what looked like spam and carrots just did not appeal to me.
But after reading all of the Banh Mi raves on this board...
Today I had my first Banh Mi ever at my old favorite Mix bakery.
Shared a table with an elderly Chinese man (soon there were four of us, I the only anglo). Got to learn at least a Chinese greating or two.
Cut to the chase: the Banh Mi was sublime. I am officially hooked. The liverwursty meat, the spicey chilles, the crunchy veggies. What a perfect taste combination.
Finsihed it off with a cup of their very nice coffee and an egg custard.
