Miru8691 - Review

Went to Miru8691 for lunch today. It's in a strip mall on the south side of Olympic just West of Doheny. Walked in, and there was one other party (of two). Other than the three of us, nobody else walked in the hour-plus we were there.

The food was both plentiful, reasonably priced, and of good quality considering the cost.

The appetizers, a kind of large jalapeno popper and a lettuce wrap, were both good. Kind of like what P.F. Chang's would serve, if P.F. Chang's were any good.

I had a sushi combo (catepillar role and 5 nigiri pieces), and the fish was of okay quality. Maybe a step below Hide Sushi, but certainly decent, and good for the price.

The other people had the hot combos, which were pretty much larger and a more fusion-y versions of a Westside chinese lunch special. Again, pretty good.

We got a free appetizer and dessert, with tofu and mochi, respectively.

Overall, decent, but not incredible, sort of in the same quality and price ballpark as the other places I'll drive to for lunch (e.g. Talesai).

Considering the lack of people, I wonder how long this place will last (I probably would not have posted if there was already info on CH, or I thought it would be here to stay, thus the lukewarm review), but it's a decent place for relatively affordable pan-asian. Think of it as a poor man's Chinois/Hamasaku.
