Found this by accident (well not entirely an unexpected source said it was the best japanese near the hotel).
Got some take out sushi - absolutely amazing! I asked for uni but they were out so I asked what was the freshest. The EXTREMELY nice hostess suggested liver (fish) I believe called akiyomo (?) - new to me, also ordered scallop and a special roll - I think called rose or rose petal (tuna around rice with crab and avacado) in the shape of a rose).
While I was waiting I was served perfectly brewed green tea with roasted rice (forgot the proper name). The hostess told me very nicely that they used real crab not artifical and that the servings had large portions of fish. I had been told it was a bit more expensive but worth it - I hadn't been told there is a 10% discount for take out what a nice surprise.
Comments - liver was wonderful almost like a very mild foie gras (but I hope not as bad for my arteries - there are some things it is better not to know). Scallop very fresh and extremely large, I was surprised how tender and sweet given the large size. Rose roll was exceptionally fresh with absolutely perfect avacado.
Oh, and I was given some edame and a little sunomono "for your health".
The inside looked quite inviting with a few booths, a sushi bar in a secluded spot, and a small pond with gentle sound - I was just too tired to eat in public:)
I was quite surprised to see an entertainment coupon on a check while I was waiting (given the quality of this restaurant) - but when I did a search on ch I only found a few references to other branches (or the same name) in the east bay from last year with a mention of the coupon.
