Mirai revisited

Lill | Sep 13, 200411:38 AM

I hadn't been to Mirai Sushi (2020 W. Division) in about two years, dissuaded by the ever-increasing crowds on that stretch of Divison. I tried it again Saturday night, and, despite my reluctance to support a scene where Paris Hilton seems to be the role model, the sushi is still so good.

My friend and I tried a variety of specials, including a spicy octopus and spicy tuna maki, marinated "baby tuna" slices (meltingly delicious), and several pieces of tuna, salmon and roe. Everything was excellent, served at exactly the right temperature, and the sushi was not overwhelmed with a big rice puck but was served on a small, soft and warm wedge. The drinks were mixed just right and the service, surprisingly enough, has continued to be excellent, informed and attentive. We walked in without a reservation at 8:45 on a Saturday night and were treated very well.

Good job, Mirai, for keeping up the quality despite the apparent extreme indifference of much of the clientele!
