Last minute (tonight) trip to Chicago -disjointed questions

Have to attend a funeral in Chicago, so we are flying today, no time to plan. Two nights.

I thought we would go to Avec. How long the wait on Fri night, around 7 (if the plane's on time)? What about Tru? They told me they were full til 10...any point in just wandering in?

My husband wants to "wander around Halsted Street and find something wonderful like we did when we found Relish(about a million years ago)" This seems risky to me. Anything great on Halstead (besides CT) I can "find"?

I reserved Osteria via STato for Sat night. I liked it last year. Still recommended?

I don't think we have time for lunches, but we can do brunch Sunday am. I saw the Metromix stuff, but it doesn't tell me where anything is. We're staying at the Allerton. Doesn't have to be close, but needs to be easy to get to via subway. Outdoors a plus.

Many thanks.
