My cousin returned from Paris with a strange question. She spent a week there, eating only in kosher restaurants. She said that literally every time she was served hot tea after dinner, she got a pot of freshly-brewed mint tea, filled with mint leaves, and the glass always had 5 or 6 pine nuts on the bottom. She'd never seen this before (nor have I) and didn't know what she was supposed to do with them. By the time she'd drunk the tea, the pine nuts were soggy and unappetizing, so she just left them there.
Does anybody know anything about this?
