Minneapolis downtown: Cafe Havana

I had the opportunity to try Cafe Havana the other night. We had a group of 6, and everyone ended up enjoying their food.

We started with 3 appetizers: chorizo sausage, some plantain preparation, and something else I can't remember. All were pretty tasty (especially good for ethnic food in MSP). Moved on to the pork chops after that- had mashed yucca as a side and a nice spicy sauce on the pork chop itself. I really liked it- didn't expect impressive spice in this city.

The wine list was okayish and overpriced for the selection, but I hear the mojitos were nice. The place was eerily light on patrons, though- maybe a total of 20-30 people were eating there. They were out of a few things and all (!) draft beers so we speculated that they might be going out of business sometime soon.

Anyhow, it was quite good for ethnic food in MSP; while I wouldn't say it is a fine dining experience I did enjoy it. So, head over if you're bored, and don't worry about reservations during the week.
