I know many of these have been reviewed, but I wanted to add my thoughts on place I hit during my most recent trip.
We stayed at MGM Grand and did b-fast there 2 days at the buffet. This was a huge disappointment. There are a few things I like seeing at any b-fast buffet--pankcakes, oatmeal, and grits. This buffet had none of them. Nothing was stand-out and the hot foods were cold. Servers (coffee/juice) were non-existent. (3/10)
We did lunch at Diablo's Cantina. I opted for a salad, which was surprisingly good and SO had one of their 1lb bugers. He liked it, but overall the place was loud--it served its purposed (fed us mass quantities of food) but you can tell just by looking at it not to expect gourmet food. It is probably a fun place to hit at night, after loading up on free drinks in the cansinos...(4/10)
We also did lunch at the NY NY "street" at the sandwich shop. Although they had matzoh ball soup and fresh sliced pastrami, they did not have knishes! However, the portions were decent-sized and I cannot complain about a sandwich so (5/10).
Dinner at Emeril's Fish place at MGM. Service was great. Fish was fresh and well prepared. However, having been to a few of Emeril's places, I did not feel the menu felt any different than a good seafood place. I was actually looking for the "Emeril Kitch" and did not find it here. (6/10)
Bellagio Buffet....I have been here before and had been looking forward to it. I typically hate buffets but I smile whenever I think of this place. We got there late (830-ish) on a Tuesday and I expected it to be not as good as when I was there on a Friday at 7, but it still is the only buffet I will go to willingly. The make-to-order sushi, great cheese, and dishes that you would find a "real" menu totally make the $30 worth it. Again, not as good as "fine dining" but I stand by my opinion that at least they make an attempt at preparing quality food in mass quanitites. Some of the dishes were stand-outs (duck in a curry sauce, ravioli with truffles, and the apple strudel)...I know there are ppl who will never consider a buffet as "good" food (I am usually one of them) but this still is (7/10)
Next time I hope to get some of the higher end places, but I hope this helped those who are doing it "on the cheap", like we did!
PS, I do not feel I have to review my HUGE sundae from Haagen Daas...but I will say I finished it all :P
