We tried the new joint at the old Sean’s location at the intersection of Vermont and Virgil (4481 Santa Monica) and it’s kind of novel and we won’t have to force ourselves to like it, being the closest dining establishment to our office, like we did Sean’s. They have tiny buns which I think are special ordered. Sort of bready but fresh and soft and not awful. I tried the chicken sandwich (2 small ones for $5.75) and it was pretty good with a surprise addition of mushrooms which added a bit of flavor to the inevitably dryish knob of chicken breast. Our beefeater enjoyed two mini cheeseburgers ($4.50) very much. They also offer mini veggie burgers and mini burritos which sound interesting. The menu also lists veggie and chicken salads (not mini apparently) for $4.50. The fries were sort of lackluster. We ordered them well done but they weren’t and probably would have been better if we were. ($2.00) I watched them dredging thin slices of onion to produce the most respectable onion rings (although they were so thin they were more globs than rings) I’ve had in a while. ($3.00). The service is really nice and there is no Styrofoam. Everything is packaged in very civilized and durable cardboard boxes. There’s a little table if you want to eat there and it looks really clean and there’s nice attention to detail. It ain’t Jayburger but it’s a real improvement over Sean’s.
