Minado - Natick

George | May 19, 2003 11:11 AM

I read earlier reviews on this board about Minado, and wanted to try it out for myself. I love sushi, but am generally disappointed by sushi buffets. However, Minado surprised me on several fronts. It was extremely clean and well laid out, bright and cheery. I noticed on my way in (I went for a Saturday lunch) that the majority of the patrons were Asian, so I hoped that boded well. I can only speak for the sushi, because that’s what I came for – it was very good. Although none of the rolls were unbelievable, they were all very good and fresh. What won me over was the nigiri – it was fantastic. I had salmon, tuna, and a white fish called ‘fluke’ – all delicious. In fact, after my first plate (mostly rolls and a few nigri), I shifted my focus on plate #2 to all nigiri. I also dabbled a bit with some octopus salad and calamari salad (both of which I thought were very well done). Dessert……this is the weird part. My wife and I had the best chocolate brownie we have ever had – I kid you not. We were shocked at how moist it was. I also had a piece of a sponge cake with blueberry topping that I loved. With tip, $35 for the 2 of us. I can not wait to go back.
