Minado - Little Ferry - a bit disappoined

Michele Cindy | Oct 14, 2002 08:13 AM

I was supposed to go see David Bowie in Staten Island Friday night, but working late, and getting into the HUGEST traffic nightmare put an end to it... Some how I ended up in the Meadowlands area and needed to pull over somewhere fast to eat. I drove until I found Minado, I was really psyched, but it was a let-down. Maybe it was jut the mood I was in after my ordeal.
There was much to choose from, but the quaility of some of the fish was off. It just didn't taste the same as I am used to. It was on par with a bad night at Terriaki Boy.
There were a few things I did enjoy, like a scallop mayo piece, the salmon roe, tobiko, and salmon sashimi were ok. The rolls were ok, but it wasn't the quaility of the fish doing it, it was all the condiments in it that made them flavorful. The best thing was the crab soup. It was like a miso egg drop soup, but they put tons of snow crab legs in it and it had a real crabby taste. It was really good. Not sure I will go back, maybe. There's a similar place I go to in West Palm Beach Fl. with a much better quaility of fish. Maybe I just went on an off night.
