Pearl's Diner just opened up shop on Post between Taylor and Leavenworth a few weeks ago.
Today, I finally checked out their menu. Yum! 1/2 lb. burgers start around $5, 1/4 lb. burgers for those who eat less, special burgers (teriyaki, chili, bacon, pesto, just to name a few), 49-er dogs, veggie burgers, turkey burgers, chicken sandwiches...a diner diner's paradise!
All natural beef patties and buffalo patties are available for extra $.
French fries, chili fries, sweet potato fries...I could cry.
But I digress. The malts. Oh lordie has it been a long time since I've had a malt like that. I won't try to compare it to your mama's best malted shake; I won't even say it will make you remember your youth. I just challenge you to name a place within city limits where you can get a 24 oz. malt thick enough to stand a spoon up in for under $4. Don't say In N' Out, I already thought of them. This is better, and it's better than Mel's, too. How much is a shake at the St. Francis Fountain? This might stack up to them.
The vanilla malt tastes exactly like frozen Milo, which means I'll be going back for more. They also make a root beer freeze (root beer float pre-blended for you) that sounds pretty darned good. I forgot to check if they have blackberry milkshakes, but if they do I'll be gaining weight in no time.
I already promised I'd be back for a buffalo burger later tonight. Will keep y'all posted...
