Next time you are cruising down Highway One through Big Sur, pull into the Post Ranch Inn and ask the guard if it might be OK to come in and have a drink at their restaurant on the edge of the world, Sierra Mar.
Walk through the very Myst-like grounds ascending several staircases to the ridge and there in all its quonset hut like glory is the restaurant. Walk straight through the dining room and out to the veranda where you will be treated to death defying drop off views of the Pacific. There is an extensive wine list with many by the glass options as well as an appetizer menu. We ordered the perfect homemade potato crips with local goat cheese and two glasses of fine white wine. For $35, we felt like millionaires in our own paradise, the sea breeze gently caressing our sunburned cheeks.
