milk wonton - the power of the press?

Mimizu | Oct 12, 2005 01:54 AM

Finally made it to the Milk Wonton restaurant mentioned in the recent New York Times magazine article. My third time and finally found it. It is just behind the 630 yen Thai restaurant place. You have to go back into the alley and take a left. It will be on your left hand side.

Disappointed - it lacked some umph. Could definitely have used more salt. (some MSG would not hurt either).

On my way out I asked if many foreigners had come since the article came out. The staff shook his head and said, "New York Times? You are the first foreigner to come since it came out."

I was suprised - that has been about a month ago.

He did also say that they had not seen a copy of it yet. Even though it was the Asahi newspaper who "introduced" the writer to the store. Do not know if there is any truth to that or not.

My review? If you are curious, it is unique and a change from the other wonton soups. Bring along some salt. And if it doesn`t satisfy, then stop by the 630 yen Thai place.
