Milk Bar Cornflake-choc chip-marshmallow cookies

I got the Milk Bar cookbook for Christmas and have been enjoying baking and eating over the last couple of weeks.
Yesterday I made and shaped the cornflake, etc cookies. I just baked 2 off, you know, so I could test them before making more fresh for the kids after school. I ended up with very flat, lacy cookies. Not what I was expecting. From the picture and description I expected something thicker, puffier, chewier.
Has anyone else out there made these cookies, and if so how did they turn out?
What could have gone wrong with mine? I followed the recipe, I may have added slightly more butter, but no more than a half a tablespoon. I baked straight from the fridge into a preheated oven.
Do you think I could bake these together in a 9x13 pan and get something akin to a blondie? I just don't think that my group of kids are going to enjoy the flat, crispy cookies, although they are very tasty!
