Milano Dining

I posted this request to Steve Plotnicki via peivate e-mail and received a very helpful reply, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to throw it out to a wider audience:

I'm going to be in Milano for one night following VINITALY and the San Marino Formula 1 Grand Prix at Imola. I'll be with my best friend since junior high days, who will have come over basically for a long weekend to join me for the race. It is his first trip to Italy. I'd be interested in your input as to where we should dine in Milano our last night.

I've been to Osteria del Binari, for example, and liked it enough that it remains on my short list. I don't think we need to go as whole hog as, say, Da Aimo e Nadia, but I'd like the food to be good, the atmosphere to be at least somewhat lively, and the wine list to be decent. I was thinking something along the lines of Alfredo-Gran San Bernardo, though I've never been. Likewise, I've not been to Sadler or to Osteria de la Porta Cicca (or something like that, and I think Cludio Sadler may be involved with this place also). The vegetarian restaurant Joia seems to get lots of good reviews, but maybe I should save that for the next time my vegetarian wife is with me?

Thanks in advance for whatever sage advice anyone can offer.
