Mike’s Filipino Chicken

G Wiv | Jul 2, 200212:20 PM

Rene picks better restaurants by looking through the phone book than Zagat after 900 reviews. :-)

I’m not kidding, Rene simply looked through Yellow Book and picked out a real Chowhound winner, Mike’s Fried Chicken is delicious, absolutely delicious. Mike’s chicken is juicy with crisp skin and a really nice flavor from both marinating and a spice rub applied just before frying. Mike’s is basic fried chicken, no breading, no elaborate sauces, no choice of dark or light, just one whole perfectly fried crispy chicken, you have a choice of the whole chicken or nothing, with white rice and sweet and sour sauce on the side for dunking if you wish.

Mike’s actually a full service Filipino restaurant with some steam table items, including fish, beef and chicken stew and a really great looking fried pork hock that seemed to have the same spices as the MFC. (At least I think it was a hock) Mike’s also serves Halo Halo in large clear fountain glasses. I am not really sure how to explain Halo Halo, aside from saying that I like it quite a bit, so I am providing a Halo Halo link.

In case I was not clear, Rene simply picked Mike’s by looking through the Yellow Book, he somehow knew that it would be really delicious. Rene, how about ponying up a few stock market tips. [smile]
