Mike's Bistro -- Nothing to Report

Called on Tuesday to make a reservation for my birthday yesterday (Wednesday). Was told restaurant closes at 11. Made reservation for 945. But the movie I went to at the Israel Film Festival started and ended late (I should've known), then it took a couple of passes to find a parking spot and by the time we showed it was 1005.

There were 2 or 3 tables eating in the glass-enclosed front room, and 3 people at the bar, one of whom told us that we had just entered the best restaurant in NYC. But the main dining room was empty and was already being cleaned. The maitre-d said that they normally don't sit anyone after 10pm and that he'd have to check with the kitchen. After a minute, the chef (presumably Mike himself) came out and told us that, sorry, they wouldn't be able to serve us. So we told them to cross our name off the reservations list and headed off to Talia's. Happened to catch the lunar eclipse at its near-peak on the way back to the car.
