I tried Mikado for sushi, happy for the chowhound recommendation. When I tried to make a reservation using my husband's last name, the Smith or Jones of Japan, no one could understand what I was saying and I spoke to three people. This was the first tip off that Mikado is a Japanese restaurant owned by non-Japanese. The second was the extensive, fanciful menu of sushi in elaborate combinations with made up names. These combinations, though they may taste good, as about as Japanese as sauce Bolognese or a Big Mac. I agree the prices are good, but for sushi, better off sticking to Sagami and paying a little more, we decided. Chacun a son gout, as they say in Osaka.
