corny name, but good spot in the west village. i think it was formally the belgian resto waterloo. it has indoor/ourdoor seating and a nice hudson river breeze. the menu is simple/fairly priced and the service friendly. as an added bonus the place was about 1/2 full at early midweek dinner so maybe it's underdiscovered as yet.
so we had appetizers and shared a main. The app's were a greens salad for me and an endive for spouse. nice sweet vinigar on my greens and i love those teeny tiny tomatos. the endive was very tasty, too. the main was excellent. rare sliced duck on a nutty rice pilaf & peach puree. nice dipping for the duck. what did we drink? she had a sierra and i had a house drink (pernod, grapefruit, cranberry) that tasted like good&plenty candy, but in a clean&refreshing way.
since the B&T crowd took over pastis, i say walk down to midway and give it a try, you'll be glad you did.
