midtown manhattan lunch option: minar

i'd heard good things about minar at 31st for quick, inexpensive i was very happy to see a new location, just opened yesterday, at 46 b/w 6th and bway (next door to margon).

menu full of options, all at extremely reasonable prices. steam table up front w/ vegetarian and meat selections, probably six of each. i had a veg plate: 3 choices, over rice, for $5.50. bread an extra $1.

i'm not well versed in indian food at all, so take my remarks for whatever they're worth...but i enjoyed it as a quick - but very full - and tasty lunch. i had spinach w/ cheese cubes, kofta curry, and a potato-caulifower-onion dish. all the dishes were fine. i was a little surprised that it seemed to be slightly more spicy than other indian restaurants i've been to, at least those serving a wide non-indian clientele. just slightly, though. i'd still have liked a little more spice. rice was very good, i thought - very flavorful, good texture. my bread was made fresh (b/c i ordered the wheat roti? something else was on the steam table.) and yummy.

good option to have in the neighborhood.
