We hit Middletown for one evening and overnite while visitng our "all knowing" goddaughter at Wesleyan. We took her to First and Last Tavern which provided us with a great re-immersion into East Coast Italian. It's nothing fancy and I wouldn't even say the food is all that "outstanding" but the menu reads like something from long ago and it was a huge hit with "the kid".
Our greatest treat was Ford News Cafe for "brunch" the next morning. It's a local place, counter is the place to sit and the food is really just plain old greasy spoon albeit very good greasy spoon. Townsfolk gather here and Kay, the owner provides the show. We just sent dame goddaughter $20 and instructed her to go there and sit at the counter.
